Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026
At SynonymQ, we believe great writing tools should respect your privacy. This policy explains exactly what happens with your data when you use our synonym finder, antonym finder, paraphrasing tool, word counter, and bookmark features.
1. Our Privacy-First Design
SynonymQ is built with a privacy-first architecture. All our core tools — synonym and antonym search, paraphrasing, and word counting — run entirely inside your browser. The text you type, the words you look up, and the paraphrases you generate never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to share them.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimal information needed to operate the website:
- Account data: None required. All tools work without registration.
- Newsletter emails: If you voluntarily subscribe, we store your email only to send the updates you requested.
- Contact messages: Emails you send through our contact form are used only to reply to you.
- Anonymous analytics: We may count aggregate page views (no IP, no user identity) to improve the site.
3. Local Storage
The browser’s local storage is used to remember three small preferences on your device only:
- Saved words — words you bookmark in the Synonym/Antonym tools.
- Dark Mode — your light/dark theme preference.
- Language — your selected interface language (English, Spanish, French, or Italian).
This data never leaves your device. You can delete it anytime by clearing your browser’s site data or by using the “Remove” button on your Bookmarks page.
4. Cookies
We do not set advertising cookies. We do not track you across other websites. The only cookie we may use is a small, strictly-necessary session cookie when you log in as a site administrator to publish articles.
5. Third-Party Services
The only external resources loaded are:
- Google Fonts (Inter) — for clean typography. Google may log an anonymous font request.
- Cloudflare CDN — to deliver the font library quickly worldwide.
No social media pixels, no ad networks, no data brokers.
6. Children’s Privacy
SynonymQ is a general writing tool suitable for students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.
7. Your Rights
Because we store almost nothing, exercising your privacy rights is simple:
- Delete your data: Clear your browser’s site data for synonymq.com.
- Unsubscribe: Every newsletter email contains an unsubscribe link.
- Request details: Email us and we will confirm what (if any) data we hold.
8. Data Security
The website is served over HTTPS with a valid SSL certificate, ensuring all traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted. We follow industry-standard practices to protect any information you voluntarily share through contact forms or the newsletter.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The “Last updated” date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
